Picnic at Franklin Lock on May 7, 2003

Our group was at Mike and Joanne Kaeske's bright and early on the morning of the trip.

Captain Mike is at the helm as we go past Tarpon Point Marina on our way to the the gathering point on the river..

The rest of the boats were ready to go at the gathering point. Captain Dick Feldhaus, pilots the Maid Marian while we wait for the other boats to arrive.

Here we are, on our way to Franklin Locks. This is the railroad bridge ahead.

Here we are going under one of the bridges on the Caloosahatchee River.

The Franklin Lock is on the left and the park is on the right as we approach the picnic area.

Thanks to John and Ali Short for supplying the hot-dogs and buns for the picnic.

The Merry Mariners should come out with a cookbook. The food we have at our potlucks is always outstanding.

The following pictures are of the four tables of Mariners attending the picnic.

As with every event, it has to end sometime. Here we are loading the boats to head home.

John Short waves good-bye as Captain Judy Peluffo heads her boat back down the river.

Thanks to Judy (and Steve) Peluffo for arranging this picnic and paying for the rental of the pavilion.
